Mar 19-21 - C.O.P.E. Facilitator Training # 1
For adults 18 and older and youth 16-17 who enjoy helping others develop their skills and have a lot of fun in the woods! Challenge course facilitators guide Scouts, Scouters, and people of all sizes, shapes, and physical abilities through initiative problems and low and high ropes course challenges to develop leadership, goal setting, communication, decision-making, problem solving, teamwork, confidence, trust, and self-esteem. 2 weekends req. Staff trainees should have already completed a COPE Course. At Sid Richardson Scout Ranch.
March 20 & 21 - Tower Training and Recerts
Tower Training (& Recert. Classes). 10-hour classes designed to certify ADULTS to lead Tower climbing and rappelling activities for single units (NOT for multi-unit activities). There is no class size limit, but pre-registration is required. Tower Recertification classes last 4-hours and will be taught at 8:00 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. – open to currently certified Instructors who are coming up on their renewal time. At Sid Richardson Scout Ranch.
March 27-28 - Spring Orienteering Competition
Two event options: (1) an individual competition and (2) group map hikes. Choose from 7 map courses with degrees of difficulty from beginner to expert. Anyone can race in the individual competitive event, and any group - dens, packs, troops, crews, and families - can do one or more map hikes on the meet courses. This is an official U.S. Orienteering Federation event, co-sponsored by the Longhorn Council and the North Texas Orienteering Association. Everyone can enter: families, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, adult leaders, ROTC units, and the public. At Sid Richardson Scout Ranch.
